Julius's Story - Growing up as an Intersex LGBTI person in Uganda

When Julius was born it wasn’t clear if he was a girl or a boy. Growing up in Uganda as an intersex person was very difficult.

Commissioned by the Open Society Foundations, "Born Julia and Julius" was produced both as 4-minute animation and comic strip. Watch the animation to hear Julius’s story brought to life.

Based on the real-life experience of a Ugandan human rights activist, this story will introduce you to delicate themes such as intersex, social stigma and the right to bodily integrity.
