Enrique's Shadow - Searching for my Brother for 25 years
Enrique's family has been searching for him for over 25 years. He went missing during the conflict between the FARC rebel fighters and the Colombian government.
Meet Daria… Daria is Romani. This is the story of the challenges Daria faced as a Roma woman living in Eastern Europe.
The Roma are originally a Hindi people from northern India. But almost everywhere they go, they're referred to — somewhat negatively— as gypsies, a people who have migrated throughout the world over the course of several centuries.
When Daria’s father lost his job she dropped out of school to help her mother to provide for the family. Still they could not pay their rent. At just 15 years old Daria was married to a stranger for Dowry.
Daria and her husband Darco had 3 children and she was happy for a time. However when Darco was injured in a construction accident, he could only work as a cleaner, for a very low wage. Darco then lost his Job cleaning. He was wrongly accused of stealing, simply because he is Romani.
Darco became angry and depressed. When he threatened to marry off their daughter for Dowry Daria realised she had to leave him. She now lives in a Roma settlement with her parents.
